This new model should be viewed as the ultimate digital compact camera.The LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT f2.8-4.9/6.3-25.2 ASPH zoom lens is equivalent to a 28 to 112mm lens in 35mm format. Like its predecessor it has a choice of three picture formats (19:9, 3:2 and 4:3) in different resolutions, operated by a small lever on the lens mount. The display monitor has been increased in size to 2.8”, with a resolution of 207,000 pixels, and the signal image processor has been improved to deliver even faster processing of images.Different shooting modes are available for creative picture taking, and the high-performance Leica lens delivers images with true-to-life colours of excellent sharpness and brilliance. Leica has developed its own profile for colour matching, contrast and picture definition, which is a characteristic well known to Leica customers.The camera has an integral Optical Image Stabiliser (O.I.S.) enabling shake free pictures to be taken in most lighting conditions without the use of a tripod.With its new technical features, the LEICA D-LUX 3 is ideally suited to digiscoping with the LEICA DIGITAL ADAPTER 2, and images displayed on the new 2.8” TFT display can be captured spontaneously with the shutters quick response time.The clean lines of the metal aluminium body, and the use of high-quality materials make for a reliable and robust product in use.The camera is supplied in a very smart black finish,with a 64MB SD card, battery and charger, along with a comprehensive software package including Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 (PC) /3 (Mac).
