Lumix GF1 Micro 4/3 The World’s Smallest, Lightest Interchangeable Lens Camera

By using the Micro Four Thirds System standard and developing a camera body that eliminates the mirror box and optical viewfinder unit, the DMC-GF1 was able to achieve the world's smallest, lightest body as a system camera with a built-in flash. It also features classical, but new artistic flat design. This new-generation system camera features Full-Time Live View, high-speed Contrast AF, HD movie recording, and more. It is small enough to take anywhere, yet sophisticated enough to take you as far into photography and movies as you want to go.
The DMC-GF1's 4/3-type Live MOS sensor with 12.1-megapixel gives you the high image quality. It also adds a high-speed readout for HD movie recording. The Dust Reduction System helps maintain image quality by placing a Supersonic Wave Filter in front of the sensor. An image processing LSI, Venus Engine HD, incorporates two CPUs. This does not only boost image processing speed, it also helps achieve an exceptional noise-reduction performance. Also, it allows long-time movie recording in AVCHD Lite while maintaining low power consumption.
The DMC-GF1 can record HD movie of 720P in AVCHD Lite with high sound quality of Dolby Digital Creator. Motion JPEG format is also available (1,280 x 720 pixels). Just press the Motion Picture Button, and shooting begins. In the Motion Picture P Mode, the aperture can be adjusted easily. The iA Mode can also be activated in motion picture recording. When the DMC-GF1 is connected to a Panasonic VIERA via an optional mini HDMI cable, the TV's remote control unit can be used to enjoy playing back with greater convenience.
Leica M9 Full Frame Digital Rangefinder Camera £4850

Leica Camera AG today announces the world’s first digital rangefinder camera with a full-frame 24 x 36mm sensor. As the world’s smallest full-frame system camera, the LEICA M9 continues the long heritage of the Leica rangefinder system, and unites more than 50 years of continuous technical improvements to the M System with cutting-edge digital technology.
The 18 mega pixel image sensor, specifically designed and developed for the M9, enables capture of the full 35-mm film format without any compromise. All M lenses mounted on the LEICA M9 therefore offer the same focal length as originally intended, and the enormous potential performance of the current M lens portfolio, with focal lengths from 16 to 135mm, is now fully exploited in an M digital camera for the very first time
The LEICA M9 features a new, microprocessor-controlled, particularly silent, metal-leaf, focal-plane shutter that enables shutter speeds of up to 1/4000 seconds. This means that the photographer still has complete creative freedom by using selective focus at maximum apertures, even in bright situations. The short flash synchronizations speed of 1/180 seconds enables daylight flash exposures with selective focus.
The CCD, specially developed by Kodak for the LEICA M9, has been optimized to exploit the particular qualities of the Leica M lens system. As a result, the LEICA M9 achieves the highest resolution values, which in turn guarantee outstanding image quality.
New Lumix DMC-LX5 -10MP 24-90mm f2.0 LEICA VARIO LENS £449.00

Capturing Creativity with the New Panasonic DMC-LX5 Compact Digital Camera - With New High Sensitivity CCD and F2.0 LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON LENS
The newly developed, super bright, F2.0 ultra wide angle 24mm LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens minimises distortion for stunning, true-to-life images with outstanding resolution and detail. With the extra advantage of a 24mm wide angle, rare on a compact camera, the LX5 offers an extraordinarily large viewing space and with thanks to an extended optical zoom from 2.5x(60mm) to 3.8x(90mm) even more versatility and opportunity to capture the perfect shot. This advanced lens also makes it easy to produce beautiful photos with pleasing soft-focused background thanks to the shallow depth of field provided by the extra light.
The highly acclaimed 10.1-megapixel CCD in the LX3 has been redesigned to achieve the expansion of dynamic range by increasing the sensitivity and the saturation. Modifications to the Venus Engine FHD provide advanced signal processing in both photo and movie recording.
For movie recording, the DMC-LX5 is now compatible with long time high quality HD movie recording in AVCHD. The 3.0-inch large 460,000-dot high resolution Intelligent LCD is also redesigned by adopting High CRI (Color Rendering Index) backlight LED to greatly increase the color reproduction, offering remarkable visibility both in shooting and playing back images in any conditions.

120 years Carl Zeiss camera lenses - Photography since 1890
Back in 1846, when Carl Zeiss set up a workshop for precision mechanics and optics in Jena, his work was groundbreaking. Today, well over a century-and-a-half later, the achievements of Carl Zeiss, Ernst Abbe and Otto Schott are still the defining standard. In its early days, the brand-new workshop manufactured microscopes almost exclusively. Yet in 1890, physicist and mathematician Ernst Abbe, a Carl Zeiss shareholder by that stage, expanded the product range to include photo lenses and binoculars. Glass types with much-improved optical qualities, first produced by Otto Schott in the 1880s, further opened up completely new possibilities and allowed Carl Zeiss to develop new types of lenses with hitherto unheard-of light gathering power. Ernst Abbe also developed groundbreaking insights that enhanced our understanding of optical systems that are still the foundation for high-performance optics today. In this tradition, Carl Zeiss has always sought to perfect its calculation systems, a fact that has contributed to its position as a global leader in optics design.
Good filmmakers are masters in the art of enticing their viewers into fascinating worlds. Moods, special details, sharpness, light and brilliant colors - lenses have a significant impact on all these factors. ZEISS lenses are of extremely high quality and allow filmmakers to pursue great creative possibilities, making them the first choice for discerning cameramen in Hollywood and beyond. Legendary and recent award-winning films such as "Barry Lyndon", the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and "Slumdog Millionaire" were also shot with ZEISS lenses.

New Zeiss ZE / ZF.2 - 35mm f1.4 Distagon EF / F Mount £TBC

Carl Zeiss introduces a new lens for just such images: the Distagon T* 1,4/35.
By introducing the Distagon T* 1,4/35, Carl Zeiss is complementing the Planar T*1,4/50 and T*1,4/85 lenses with a wide-angle lens that shares the same high speed. Crisp, sharp images work every time, whether at dusk or in the weak lighting conditions of a café, and without the need for a tripod. With its 35-mm, the Distagon T* 1,4/35 matches the classic and versatile standard focal lengths when used on cameras with APS-C sensor formats.
Due to the special bokeh effects in both the foreground and background areas, the Distagon T*1,4/35 opens up new creative possibilities, giving photographers more options to ‘play’ with focus. Thanks to its large focus ring, photographers can also create highly accurate, sharp pictures, even at maximum aperture opening. In addition, the optical construction of the lens guarantees high image quality across the entire image range. Furthermore, with one step less than the full aperture opening, the light fall-off toward the edges is just one f-stop.
(The Distagon T* 1,4/35 will be available in first quarter of 2011)
